Preserving Vienna’s musical heritage – inspiring the future

:

Vienna - the Heart of Classical Music

For centuries, Vienna has been the beating heart of classical music.
It was here that Mozart and Beethoven composed their masterpieces, where Haydn and Schubert created timeless works – and where the great concert tradition is is more alive than ever.

The Vienna Academy Orchestra Today

The world-renowned Vienna Academy Orchestra, founded by conductor and imperial court organist Martin Haselböck, continues this legacy in the spirit of original sound, as a living, breathing force of music. With its celebrated Resound Beethoven project, the orchestra brings the master’s symphonies back to the very venues where they were first heard. In Vienna’s Golden Hall of the Musikverein, the orchestra presents its own concert cycle — connecting you directly with history.

Innovation and American Connections

Through innovative music-theater projects with Oscar-nominated John Malkovich and baritone Thomas Hampson, the orchestra has brought productions to major stages around the world. Martin Haselböck’s connection to the United States goes back nearly fifty years: after his first concert in New York in 1976, he went on to conduct leading American orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony and for twenty-five years directed Musica Angelica in Los Angeles. This lifelong engagement has built a unique bridge between Vienna and America.

KirchKlang Festival Salzkammergut

Each summer in Austria’s famous and picturesque Salzkammergut, the Kirch’Klang Festival Salzkammergut transforms historic churches and castles into concert halls - from the iconic Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, immortalized in The Sound of Music, to hidden gems rarely accessible to the public. Hearing Mozart or Haydn in these spaces – with lakes and mountains outside – captures the spirit of Austrian culture.

Humanitarian Engagement: Energizing Ukraine
Beyond the concert hall, the orchestra is committed to humanitarian work through its project Energizing Ukraine – supporting displaced Ukrainian musicians, rediscovering forgotten works, and offering new hope through the power of music.
